High school formal card

Open in Mobile App
Hi all, wow what an emotional ride this year has been!!  First off I would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all your donations sent to one mission Brazil for Ben. He was overwhelmed by your generosity and was asked by his organizers how he raised the money so quick.... his responce was all mums great blog follows! also thank you to our local friends who also gave very generously xx he ended up with almost $300 over his $900 goal so thankyou!!
Well our youngest daughter Madaleine finished her last yr 12 exam and had their High school formal earlier this week. Her future plans are all coming together now which as parents is so exciting to see! Our time with family was such a cherished blessing together. I made a card like her dress which has been my little tradition for all our kids and is a twist on the corner folding I have done in the past so I hope you will enjoy my video tutorial below. By the way Madaleine made this dress with the sari fabric her sister bought back from India for her, I think she did a top job! I crochet her hair piece and it all came together really nicely. Ben leaves for Brazil in a week and next is Beth's Uni graduation! .... here are a few snap shots of the Madaleine's big night ...... enjoy!
Blessings to you

uneasy, undecided and unwise....
but because of Jesus and all He went through
I KNOW I have never been UNLOVED

I have loved you, O my people,
with an everlasting love;
with loving-kindness i have drawn you to me.

Fancy Dress Corner Fold / pattern & Video Tutorial

Hi everyone, this is an easy corner fold dress that i showed my card making class how to do and i would love to show you. If you haven't tried any of my corner fold patterns yet this one is a great pattern to start on. I stamped the swirls after the folding was done. We also used the cut out to make this second card....

which i ran through the cuttlebug and added some ribbon around the waist and one of my rolled scallop rose's with a pearl in the center, which you will find the pattern for HERE
So quick and you get 2 cards with the one pattern. below are the video tutorials for this card which i hope will help you to understand the corner fold concept a little better....i will eventually go back and do more video tutorials on how to corner fold in the future and get you all addicted...lol... but for now here is the pattern for the dress... enjoy...Valita

PS...A few people have also asked what stamp set i used for this project it is called Dot Flourishes
heres a pic of them...i used two different ones from this set to create a fuller flourish look and then added some glitter over the dots...

Christmas box / Formal preperations

Hi all, ill be flat out busy later today with our daughter's Formal so i thought id post Mondays cards while i have a quiet moment. We made this cute little gift box that was snack easy!! you can find the step by step instruction here. I used the wreath cuttlebug emboss folder and die set to do the wreath for the front and circle nestabilities to create the hole to view whats in the box. we covered this with clear plastic. Have a go because they were so unbelievably quick to make. here's another view.

Our second card was a corner folding design. you can buy these patterns from my pattern blog

The ladies at card class are so lovely they presented me with this card for Beth to congratulate her... a very talented lady called Chris made this beautiful card thank you Chris and all the ladies this means alot....Beth loved it!!

Today is very exciting for Beth she's at this moment fluffing around for her Formal dinner tonight. I finished her necklace ....take a looky!!

and she's booked in to the hair dressers to have her hair done up and then later at the spoilt rotten beauty salon to have her face done. I made her this card for the occasion...the pattern was made by a lady called Ingrid from New Zealand.

Can't wait to post more pics after tonight...........Valita

Cool starfish Christmas

Hi all, i designed this card with an Australian Christmas in mind. it's meant to look like a star/starfish with a Santa hat at the beach....mmmm i wasn't quiet happy with the gold paper i chose ...it seemed to sit too flat. When I showed the ladies in class how to make this one we used a thicker textured Gold wrapping paper and it worked better. Instead of fold 1 i used the word window punch from Stampin up. Ive been Buying some of these great little QuicKutz dies and the glasses die was the perfect size for this project

We glued some shiny foil paper to the back of the glasses. The nestabilities dies worked perfect to create the bauble look and saved a lot of careful cutting!!
Our next card was a quick one using the idea of a smaller card on the front tied up with a ribbon. This stamp Ive had forever and is always a cute one.

Well I'm off tomorrow to the Sydney paper craft festival ....I'll fill you all in when we get back....enjoy...Valita

Hi all, we've settled in now to make Christmas cards till we finish up for the year with our card making group. so heres last weeks cards and pattern hope you enjoy them and gain a few more ideas.....the card above I used the nestabilities circle die to cut the circle for the bauble which made cutting a breeze.

This poinsettia card was so easy i cut free hand petals for the flower.

and the pattern to try......
Beth and I spent Friday afternoon in the garden weeding etc and it was so nice...we found this little frog ...he was so cute!! we took heaps of pics....enjoy your day and as we prepare for the busy Christmas season i pray we all at some time just stop to reflect on Jesus who came to this world for us all.

40th and 50th Birthday's

Hi all, My brother in law and my best friend both had birthdays on Friday. One turned 40 and the other 50..... so i was pulled in both directions for the weekend......we enjoyed a nice quiet dinner with my best friend at our local pizza place on the river (pattern for this Finch card below) and then we were off to Inverell to the in laws 50th. This is normally a 3 hour drive but our son wanted to get some hours up with his learners license and it took us 5 hours :0 ............I think this was to teach me some patience.
This was a dress up party and was fun to spend some time with them. Here's his card and some pics ..........

This is Copeton Dam near Inverell. an amazing huge Dam three times bigger than Sydney harbour. This Pic only shows a small section of it. kangaroos everywhere in the camping grounds around the Dam and we spent the morning on their water slide with the kids...so much fun!!

This is a pic on our way home at a place called Ebor Falls. their were butterflies everywhere... beautiful country!!!

And this is the corner fold pattern for the finch card. if you have a go keep in mind that this was designed for a large card. I hope you've enjoyed this as much as we have....valita

up in the clouds, stencling Tutorial and fold pattern

Hi all, wow a week has almost gone by of the kids school holidays....its been great to see them during the day and just relax together especially having Dave home on some holidays as well....a huge blessing to us all. Ive enjoyed having a play around with this cloud stencil not a new technique but a pleasing one....but be warned you will have very inky fingers and want to stencil clouds on everything LOL :)
This first card is a corner fold Japanese crane card a very quick card to make up and to make it that bit more special i stenciled the cloud background ...all patterns will be below.Note that Ive drawn 4 different cloud shapes on the one pattern for you to utilize ... so here's how i created the background.

you'll need:
a stencil...see below
Ink
a sponge
and card stock

First cut out your cloud on card which can be used for other projects. Now starting at the bottom of your card front lay the cloud in a random fashion holding firmly in place with one hand. Ink up the sponge and and sponging off in the direction shown here away from the cloud.

don't get fussy with buying expensive sponges i just use off cuts from my puppet making and they work fine. Once you have the colour depth you want move the cloud to another different random angle and sponge again.

take advantage of the 4 different cloud shapes as you go moving the stencil each time to a different shape and that will help get that natural random cloud formations.

here's the finished background....

It can take practice but you will be pleased with the results. This second card was done the same way but embossing the swirl cuttlebug folder over the finished background to give the appearance of a windy day. The kits was just folded down the middle and inked to get that black line.

and the patterns.........

I hope you have a go at these i found the stenciling a very rewarding technique and the ink dose eventually come off LOL.... until next post...Valita
